Who We Are
SUNNYLYFE MUSIC is a music label operated by SUNNYLYFE MUSIC LLC, a limited liability company registered in New Jersey, USA, which acts as the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
For any privacy question or request, contact info@sunnylyfemusic.com.
SUNNYLYFE MUSIC LLC respects the privacy of artists, listeners, collaborators, subscribers, and other visitors who interact with its website and label operations.
This policy describes the categories of personal information SUNNYLYFE MUSIC may collect through its website and related digital interactions, why that information is used, and the choices available to individuals.
SUNNYLYFE MUSIC follows a data-minimization principle: we collect information that is reasonably necessary for the stated purpose and avoid collecting information merely because it may be useful later.
1. Information We Collect
Demo and Artist Submissions
When an artist or authorized representative submits music, SUNNYLYFE MUSIC may collect: artist name and contact name; email address; city and country; track title and private music links; biography and artist information; social-media, website, DSP, Beatport, Resident Advisor, or similar artist links voluntarily provided; release status and prior-release information; performance/DJ information voluntarily provided; representation/booking information where requested or voluntarily supplied; information explaining why the submission may fit SUNNYLYFE MUSIC; rights confirmations; human-created music / generative-AI declarations; and A&R communications and internal review history associated with the submission.
SUNNYLYFE MUSIC does not require artists to upload master audio files through the public website where private streaming/download links are sufficient.
Newsletter
If a visitor voluntarily subscribes to the SUNNYLYFE MUSIC newsletter, the label may collect the information required to manage that subscription, such as an email address and associated consent/subscription records. Newsletter consent is separate from demo submission. A person is not subscribed to marketing solely because they submitted music.
Contact Communications
If someone contacts SUNNYLYFE MUSIC, the label may collect the information contained in that communication and the contact details needed to respond.
Website and Technical Information
Our hosting, content-delivery, and security provider (Cloudflare) processes technical information necessary to deliver and protect the website, such as IP address, browser/device information, timestamps, requested pages, referring pages, and security or diagnostic logs. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool described in Section 7.
2. How Information Is Used and Our Legal Bases
Personal information may be used to: receive, organize, evaluate, and respond to music submissions; maintain A&R history and artist relationship context; request additional music or information; conduct release, rights, metadata, technical, or onboarding discussions where a submission progresses; consider an artist for legitimate future SUNNYLYFE MUSIC opportunities where appropriate; respond to general, press, licensing, booking, or other inquiries; send newsletters or marketing communications where separate consent applies; operate, secure, maintain, diagnose, and improve the website; prevent abuse, fraud, spam, or security incidents; maintain appropriate business, compliance, and legal records; and establish, exercise, or defend legal rights where necessary.
Where data-protection law such as the EU or UK GDPR applies, SUNNYLYFE MUSIC relies on the following legal bases for processing:
- Demo submissions, evaluating and responding to music you send us: our legitimate interest in operating an A&R process and, where you ask us to take steps toward a potential relationship, steps taken at your request prior to any agreement.
- A&R relationship history: our legitimate interest in maintaining accurate records of artists we have evaluated and communicated with.
- Newsletter and marketing communications: your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
- Security, fraud prevention, and website operation: our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and functional, and, where applicable, compliance with legal obligations.
- Records, rights confirmations, and legal claims: our legitimate interest in maintaining appropriate records and, where applicable, compliance with legal obligations.
- Release and contract administration (for signed artists): performance of a contract and, where applicable, compliance with legal obligations.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered that those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests as described in Section 11.
3. Human-Created Music Declaration
The demo submission process records the submitter's response to the required declaration under SUNNYLYFE MUSIC's Human-Created Music and Generative AI Policy. The declaration is used to determine submission eligibility and to maintain an appropriate compliance record if a work progresses toward release.
4. A&R Review and Authorized Access
Demo information and private listening links may be made available to SUNNYLYFE MUSIC personnel and authorized collaborators who reasonably require access for A&R evaluation, administration, technical review, legal/rights review, or potential release discussions. Private music submitted for evaluation is not authorized for public release or commercial exploitation merely because it was submitted.
5. Service Providers
SUNNYLYFE MUSIC uses trusted third-party service providers to operate parts of its digital infrastructure. Each provider receives only the information reasonably necessary to perform its function and processes it subject to its applicable terms and data-processing obligations. The categories of service providers we rely on include:
- Website hosting, content delivery, security, and website analytics (Cloudflare).
- An email newsletter platform, used only where a person separately subscribes.
- Cloud-based form and data-storage services, used to receive and store demo submissions.
- A web-font delivery service, used to display website typography (which may involve the provider receiving a request, including IP address, when fonts load).
SUNNYLYFE MUSIC does not sell personal information to third parties. If our categories of service providers materially change, this policy will be updated accordingly.
6. Marketing Communications
Newsletter and promotional communications require a separate subscription. Demo submission does not automatically enroll an artist in marketing. Marketing emails provide an unsubscribe mechanism. Unsubscribing from marketing does not require deletion of legitimate A&R, contractual, transactional, or compliance records.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The SUNNYLYFE MUSIC website does not use advertising or cross-site behavioural tracking cookies.
For understanding general site traffic, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not track individuals across other websites.
Our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) also processes technical data that is strictly necessary to deliver and protect the website, such as IP address and request logs.
Where applicable law requires consent for any non-essential technology we may introduce in the future, we will obtain that consent before it is activated, and a separate cookie notice or preference mechanism will be provided if required.
8. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected:
- Declined demo submissions, private music/track links: deleted within 3 months of the decision.
- Declined demo submissions, basic record (name, email, submission date, and outcome): retained for up to 12 months to maintain A&R history, then deleted.
- Signed artists and released works: for the duration of the agreement plus 7 years, to meet contractual, royalty, rights, and tax record-keeping obligations.
- Newsletter subscribers: retained while your subscription is active; when you unsubscribe, we retain only a minimal suppression record so we can continue to honour your opt-out.
- Contact correspondence: retained for up to 24 months unless it relates to an ongoing matter.
- Website security and technical logs: retained in accordance with our hosting and security provider's standard retention periods.
Different categories of information may therefore have different retention periods.
9. Data Security
SUNNYLYFE MUSIC uses reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the information it handles. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Artists should submit private music through designated links and should not provide passwords, financial credentials, government identification, or other sensitive information unless specifically required through an appropriate secure process.
10. International Processing and Transfers
SUNNYLYFE MUSIC is based in the United States and works with artists, listeners, subscribers, service providers, and collaborators in multiple countries. Information may therefore be processed or stored outside an individual's country of residence.
Where personal information originating in the EU, UK, or another region is transferred to the United States or elsewhere, that transfer is carried out under an appropriate safeguard, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where relevant) offered by our service providers, an applicable adequacy decision, or another lawful transfer mechanism.
You may request further information about the safeguards that apply by contacting us at the address in the "Who We Are" section above.
11. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on the law that applies to you and the legal basis for the relevant processing, you may have the right to:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion of your personal information;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- request portability of information you provided to us; and
- where we rely on consent, withdraw that consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, contact info@sunnylyfemusic.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (under the GDPR, generally within one month, which may be extended for complex or numerous requests). We may need to verify your identity, and we may retain limited information where required or reasonably necessary for legal obligations, contractual records, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or to document a prior request.
If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under California law, including the right to know, access, delete, and correct personal information. SUNNYLYFE MUSIC does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Do Not Track. Because we do not engage in cross-site behavioural tracking, we do not respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
12. Children
The SUNNYLYFE MUSIC website and demo process are not directed to children and are not intended for anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate authorization, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address above.
13. External Links
The website may link to third-party services such as streaming platforms, artist websites, social networks, ticketing services, or other external destinations. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
14. Changes to This Policy
SUNNYLYFE MUSIC may update this policy as its services, technology, service providers, legal obligations, or operating structure change. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Where required by applicable law, we will provide additional notice before processing personal data for a new purpose, and, where appropriate, direct notice of significant changes.
